Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa tested negative for COVID-19, said a statement posted on the Portuguese Presidency's official website on Tuesday, one day after the presidency said he had tested positive. 

"The President of the Republic remains in isolation and awaits a confirmatory test," according to the statement.
