One person died and seven others were injured after an explosion rocked a workshop of an auto parts company in Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, according to Xinhua News Agency.

The rescue operation ended at about 3:30 p.m. and no one was found trapped in the debris, according to the fire department in the Tianjin Port bonded area.

An investigation to ascertain the cause of the blast is underway.
