The Yuci District in the city of Jinzhong, northern China's Shanxi Province, reported one locally transmitted case of COVID-19 on Tuesday, leading to a districtwide mass testing campaign on Wednesday. The campaign is set to be completed in three days.

A total of 237 sample-taking stations have been set up to receive a total of 715,605 residents.

"It's good. This is about being responsible for the public as well as ourselves. I haven't been to any places recently, but I think doing the test is both good for others and myself," said a resident, who asked to remain anonymous. 

Volunteers are offering a hand at the site. "Look how hard-working these medical staff are. I just came to help when I had time. I want to contribute my part in the fight against the pandemic," said resident Zhao Hong.

Before this week, Shanxi had not reported any locally transmitted COVID-19 cases for seven consecutive months.

Besides the locally transmitted case, the province now has one asymptomatic patient, and two imported cases.
