A Siberian crane has been spotted foraging and roosting at Zhanshan Reservoir in Yantai City, east China's Shandong Province.
The Siberian crane, under first-class national protection in China and listed as a critically endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, usually breeds and spends the winter in wetlands. They show a general preference for wide expanses of shallow (up to 30 centimeters deep) fresh water with good visibility, according to the IUCN.
