A wildlife protection station in Jiang'an County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, rescued a small civet that fell into a ditch with freezing water after the animal was spotted by a local resident.
At first, the rangers didn't know what the little animal they had saved, but after being examined by experts, it turned out to be a small Indian civet, a species that is under second-class state protection in China.
The adult civet, weighing around 3 kg, had to receive treatment for frostbite and is now under the care of the station members. It will be released to the wild after it recovers.
