Crescent Lake, also known as Yueya Spring, is a crescent-shaped lake surrounded by deserts, six kilometers south of the city of Dunhuang in Gansu Province, northwest China. 

Just as water and fire are incompatible, it's rare to see the coexistence of a desert and a spring. But, this is not the case for Crescent Lake which is surrounded by Echoing-Sand Mountain. The golden sandhill and the blue lake cast a beautiful contrast in harmonious existence.
