With President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration just a few days ahead, the Pentagon has increased the number of National Guard members deployed to secure the event.

The National Guard Bureau said in a press release Friday that the Pentagon had authorized the deployment of up to 25,000 National Guards from the 20,000 troops authorized a day earlier.

The center of Washington was put on lockdown due to growing security concerns ahead of the presidential inauguration, and security is particularly tight around the White House and Capitol Hill.

The U.S. Capitol and National Mall are on lockdown. The army and the police are blocking most of the streets in Washington, D.C., getting prepared for possible clashes during the event and the time ahead of it.

The Chinese embassy in the United States on Friday reminded Chinese citizens to improve safety awareness in the U.S. as Washington D.C. is under an emergency declaration.
