People line up for oxygen in virus-stricken northern Brazil

People in the Brazilian city of Manaus were seen lining up to collect or refill oxygen cylinders on Friday, as hospitals run out of stock and beds due to a sharp increase of COVID-19 cases. Health professionals warned that "many people" could die due to lack of supplies and assistance. As of January 15, Brazil has recorded more than 208,000 virus deaths, the second-highest tally in the world, behind the U.S.
