Cold weather, reaching minus 20 degrees Celsius, cloaked the trees in white along the Songjiang Middle Road in Jilin City, northwest China's Jilin Province.
It was the last day of Sanjiu on January 16, which is a folk solar term in addition to the traditional 24 solar terms, representing the coldest period of the year. Sanjiu has brought cold but also the wonders of rime.
Rime is a kind of white ice crystal that appears in cold places. The water mist in the air condenses, frosts and accumulates on the branches due to the cold weather, thus forming the beautiful rime landscape.
