Fresh flower markets are booming in Changzhou City, east China's Jiangsu Province, as people rush to purchase flowers for the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on February 12 this year.

Vendors of Xiaxi Flower and Tree Market in the city are busy storing and stacking popular varieties of fresh flowers, including orchids and azaleas.

The amount of the fresh flowers in stock has increased three to five times this year over the previous year. And sales for the flowers started much earlier this year than in previous years, with prices down nearly 40 percent year on year, according to the vendors in the market.

The flower market faces uncertainties due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and many vendors have come up with creative arrangements and bouquets to increase added value. Additional advertisement and strategies like preselling are also being used.
