A sterilizing robot has joined the Beijing Metro Transit Rail (MTR) to keep passengers and staff safe during COVID-19. The city has reported new cases among frequent subway commuters during peak hours. /CFP

The Beijing MTR brings in the white cubic robot for a more careful sterilization after a train finishes its service. The robot atomizes hydrogen peroxide automatically, sprays it into the cabin and the hard-to-reach corners. /CFP

According to the company, the robot can finish disinfection in a closed environment without human interference, and it can be controlled by conductors within a 20 meters distance. /CFP

The Beijing MTR has enhanced indoor ventilation and set up an isolation area in each station. Passengers need to keep their masks on, and their temperatures are checked before entering the city's metro system. /CFP
