China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Tuesday recorded 77 new COVID-19 cases, all local transmissions, the Center for Health Protection (CHP) said on Wednesday.

Among the new infections, 37 have an unknown origin, the CHP said.

The HKSAR government on Tuesday announced the extension of social distancing measures for another week to January 27 as the city is experiencing a resurgence in COVID-19 infections.
