U.S. President Joe Biden signed a series of executive orders upon his inauguration on January 20, the first of which was launching a mask challenge to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The executive order titled "100 Days Masking Challenge" requires masks and physical distancing in all federal buildings, on all federal lands and by federal employees and contractors.

According to the latest data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, the U.S. has logged over 24 million confirmed infections, with over 405,000 deaths.

Biden also began the process of re-engaging with the World Health Organization (WHO) and picked Anthony Fauci, U.S. top infectious disease expert, to lead a delegation to the WHO's annual meetings on the COVID-19 pandemic.
