China criticizes Sweden for banning Chinese 5G suppliers
China firmly opposed Sweden's move to exclude certain countries' companies from completing the auction of 5G spectrums, which has harmed Chinese companies' legitimate rights and interests, Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson Gao Feng said on Thursday.
Sweden has excluded Chinese companies from the construction of its 5G network on the grounds of so-called national security concerns, but without presenting any evidence. The move has violated the World Trade Organization's basic principles and common international rules, said Gao.
China urged Sweden to immediately correct its wrong practices, safeguard bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and work with China to find a solution, Gao said, adding that China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
