China has opposed a European Parliament resolution, calling on it to respect China's sovereignty. The statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry followed a move by European lawmakers urging the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government to immediately release activists who were arrested earlier this year for violating China's national security law for the HKSAR.
