Crescent Lake, also known as Yueya Spring, is a crescent-shaped lake surrounded by desert, six kilometers south of Dunhuang in Gansu Province, northwestern China.

Just as water and fire are incompatible, it's rare to see the coexistence of a desert and a spring. But, this is not the case for Crescent Lake, which is surrounded by Echoing-Sand Mountain. The golden sandhill and the blue lake cast a beautiful contrast in harmonious existence.
