Between 150 and 200 National Guard members deployed to Washington, D.C., to provide security for Joe Biden's inauguration have tested positive for the coronavirus, Reuters reported, citing a U.S. official on Friday.
The U.S. government imposed unprecedented security measures in the city following the deadly January 6 attack on the Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump.
The official said the number of National Guard troops who tested positive could rise. The U.S. reported more than 4,000 daily deaths from COVID-19 for a second consecutive day on Thursday, according to Johns Hopkins University.
