Beijing's Daxing residents allowed to quarantine with pets
By Gao Yuxin

Due to the need prevent and control the epidemic, some residents in Beijing have to go to designated places for centralized quarantine, which causes many pet owners a lot of concerns. What about pets left unattended at home?

Some pet owners had to ask friends to take care of their pets, some sent their pets out to the community or the pet stores, but some didn't have access to those options.

After Shanghai allowed people to take pets with them to COVID-19 quarantine venues, Beijing has also taken measures to solve the problem of pets being unattended during centralized quarantines.

Considering that some families have pets that need caring for, a family with pets can leave one member at home to care for them while others go to centralized quarantine, said Han Xinxing, deputy head of Daxing district, during the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control press conference on January 24.

"One member of the family can quarantine at home, provided that all pandemic prevention requirements are strictly implemented," said Han.

The policy that pet owners can quarantine at home with their pets is undoubtedly great news for animal lovers in Beijing.

The Ronghui Community in the Tiangongyuan Subdistrict of Beijing's Daxing District has been designated as a high-risk area since January 20. On January 24, the community registered three new local confirmed cases bringing the figure to a total of 19 local cases.
