Chinese and Indian military officials held the ninth round of corps commander-level talks on Sunday, according to China's Ministry of National Defense.

The two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views, both agreeing to promote the disengagement process of their frontline border troops, take effective measures to ease the situation along the Line of Actual Control in the Western Sector of the China-India border, and jointly maintain peace and tranquility, said the Chinese ministry in a statement.

China and India agreed that this round of talks was positive, practical and constructive, which further enhanced mutual trust and understanding, according to the statement.

They agreed to follow the important consensus of their state leaders, maintain the good momentum of dialogue and negotiation, and hold the 10th round of the corps commander level talks at an early date to jointly advance de-escalation, it added.
