Australia's medical regulator has approved the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for use through a formal process. Australia is one of the first countries to complete a comprehensive approval. As Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison says, this is not an emergency approval as has been done in some other jurisdictions around the world. This is a formal approval, carried out under the ordinary processes of the TGA.
