The second consignment of 6.5 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine made by China's Sinovac Biotech arrived in Istanbul on Monday, according to local media.

After receiving the first batch of three million doses from China at the end of December, Turkey launched a mass vaccination program on January 14. More than 1.24 million people have been vaccinated so far, mostly health workers and elderly people.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Vice President Fuat Oktay and Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, have also been inoculated with the Chinese vaccine.
