China rolls out its first self-developed hydrogen fuel cell hybrid locomotive

China's first self-developed hydrogen-powered hybrid locomotive rolled off the production line on Wednesday at CRRC Datong Co., Ltd. in north China's Shanxi Province on Wednesday. The successful development of a hydrogen fuel cell system for locomotives came as a good news in the country's ongoing campaign promoting green and low carbon development. The locomotive is designed to run at a speed of 80 km per hour, witha continuous power supply of 700 kW for 24.5 hours. Its maximum traction load on a straight track exceeds 5,000 tonnes.
