Two million doses of COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sinovac, a Chinese biopharmaceutical company, arrived in Santiago, the capital of Chile on Thursday.
Chilean President Sebastian Pinera, Health Minister Jaime Manalich and Zhou Yi, the charge d'affaires of the Chinese embassy in Chile, received the shipment at the Arturo Merino Benitez Airport.
Pinera said Chile will expand COVID-19 vaccination to people from aged 18-59 to aged 18 and above, with the second batch of 2 million doses due to arrive at the end of the week.
He said the country will begin inoculations in February, and he plans to get vaccinated by the middle of the month.
