Chinese mainland reports 52 new COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland recorded 52 new COVID-19 cases on Friday – 36 local transmissions and 16 from overseas – the National Health Commission said on Saturday.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 27 were reported in Heilongjiang Province, five in Jilin Province, two in Shanghai, one in Beijing and one in Hebei Province, the commission said.

No new deaths related to COVID-19 were registered on Friday, and 143 patients were discharged from hospitals.

A total of 16 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 976 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland has reached 89,430, and the death toll stands at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 10,371 (9,302 recoveries, 178 deaths)

Macao: 47 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 899 (813 recoveries, 7 deaths)
