SUMMARY

Confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide have exceeded 105 million, with over 2.2 million deaths and more than 58 million recoveries, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

Here is the latest:

The Chinese mainland recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, four of which were local transmissions.

On Thursday, the China-WHO joint team in Wuhan held talks with recovered COVID-19 patients, bereaved families affected by the virus, community workers, and other residents.

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a budget package on Friday by 219-209 that enables Democrats to push President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief through Congress without Republican support in a process that will likely take weeks.

Globally, the number of vaccinations has now overtaken the number of reported infections, said World Health Organization Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
