COVID-19 deaths in New York state's nursing homes have been undercounted by the state's health department by as much as 50 percent, according to a report released on January 28 by the state attorney general's office.

The 76-page report also revealed that nursing homes' lack of compliance with infection control protocols put residents at increased risk.
