Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on Jaunary 29, ratifying the extension of New START, a key nuclear deal with the U.S., a week before it was due to expire, the Kremlin said in a statement. The bill allows the treaty to remain in effect for five more years. The pact restricts the number of strategic weapons that the U.S. and Russia can keep.
