Chinese mainland reports 42 new COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland recorded 42 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday – 33 local transmissions and nine from overseas – the National Health Commission said on Monday.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 22 were reported in Heilongjiang Province, 10 in Jilin Province and one in Hebei Province, the commission said.

No new deaths related to COVID-19 were registered on Sunday, and 96 patients were discharged from hospitals.

A total of 16 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 891 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland has reached 89,564, and the death toll stands at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 10,452 (9,423 recoveries, 181 deaths)

Macao: 47 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 911 (830 recoveries, 8 deaths)
