Groundhog Day is a popular North American tradition which takes place in the United States and Canada on February 2 every year. Usually, there's a ceremony held at Punxsutawney in western Pennsylvania in the U.S., centering around a Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog that will predict how long the winter will last. In weather folklore, if our fuzzy friend emerges from his hole on a clear day and sees his shadow, he will retreat, meaning six more weeks of winter; but if it's cloudy, and the groundhog doesn't see his shadow, early spring weather is right around the corner.
