Meng Cuizhen, deputy head of Gaocheng District, Shijiazhuang City in north China's Hebei Province and Li Xueling, chief of the district health department, were removed from office.

A statement published by the district government on Monday did not provide the reason for their removals.

Gaocheng District has been a hotspot of the latest regional COVID-19 outbreak in China.
