China Media Group (CMG) on Tuesday announced Top 10 Trends of 2020 in the audiovisual new media industry. The list, compiled by over 100 industry experts and academicians, marks CMG's first-ever annual Top 10 Trends selection in the audiovisual new media category.

The Top 10 Trends include: Everything shown on "cloud"; in-depth integration of media included in the "14th Five-Year Plan"; surging popularity of live camera broadcast (LCB); uptick in online visual content; unprecedented success of online variety shows and dramas; creation of new growth in domestic consumption through live commerce; a wave of new online influencers; Chinese audiovisual new media companies overcoming hardships overseas; Multi-Channel Network (MCN) promoting the transformation of radio and television institutions; and 5G network technologies boosting the production quality of audiovisual contents.

The past year witnessed countless breakthroughs in the audiovisual new media space amid the COVID-19 pandemic with the occurrence of several landmark events and more preferential policies in place.

The 2020 Top 10 Trends was launched by CMG and jointly organized by CMG's New Media Center, the Center for Convergence Development, Innovation and Development Research Center, and CTR Market Research.

The selection follows the principles of "mainstream value", "industry value" and "news value", covering domestic audiovisual new media industry policies, industry news and user trends.
