According to the tradition of Peking Opera and other theatrical troupes in China, the troupes have to seal the box to rest at the end of the lunar year. All kinds of performance equipment will be organized into boxes, and they won't be taken out until the next year. This year, the Little New Year's Day, also called "Spring Cleaning Day," falls on February 4. China National Peking Opera Company will have its last performance this year before sealing the box by the actors to perform a masterpiece of each play.

In this livestream, we not only unveil the mystery behind the scenes featuring the basics of facial painting, patching, costume, and cross-dressing. It also presents a traditional Peking Opera performance, "The Drunken Concubine," which tells the story of Imperial Concubine Yang Yuhuan, who drinks alone for annoyance because the Emperor fails to keep a date with her but goes to drink with another consort. Don't miss it!
