The executive committee of Myanmar's National League for Democracy (NLD) party has called for the release of State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint and others "as soon as possible."
In the statement posted on Facebook, the party also called for an acknowledgement of the results of last year's election won by the NLD party and for holding the parliament session due to start this week.
The statement also said the military's taking power violates Myanmar's constitution, ignores the rights of the people and severely affects national transition, COVID-19 curbs and peaceful development.
