Myanmar's military to return power to the winning party after a free and fair election
01:42

Myanmar's military said it was moving several parliamentarians and senior provincial officials to house arrest. This came as dozens of ministers have now been replaced after the military detained civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi early Monday. Local Yangon television host Thinzar Shunlei Yi said that Suu Kyi had called on the public to reject the military takeover. And a one-year state of emergency has been in effect since Monday. The military said it would return power to the winning party after a free, fair election. After the outbreak, the U.S. has threatened to re-impose sanctions on Myanmar if the military doesn't relinquish power.
