Shenshan Village, located in Jinggangshan City, south China's Jiangxi Province, has gradually found its own tourism model based on its revolutionary history. Peng Xiaying, a villager of Shenshan, told us her story of poverty alleviation through tourism.

Jinggangshan is the mountain of revolution, where Chairman Mao Zedong fought against the enemy. The average annual disposable income per villager was less than 2,300 yuan before 2014. As the village developed, the tourists began to flock. In 2019, Shenshan Village welcomed 320,000 tourists, raising the tourism income to 4.6 million yuan. The same year, the per capita income reached 22,000 yuan.

CGTN brings you three episodes telling the stories of three magical villages around China: Bama, the longevity village; Shenshan, the revolutionary history-oriented village; and Longtan, a village of painting. All three villages are alleviating poverty via tourism.
