Social order remained largely stable in Yangon, Myanmar's largest city, on Tuesday. A year-long state of emergency was declared by the country's military on Monday after State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint, along with other senior officials and political figures from the ruling National League for Democracy, were detained hours before parliament was due to convene for the first time since the November election. The military claims the move was in response to "election fraud" and imposed a year-long state of emergency, vesting the power in army chief General Min Aung Hlaing.
