People make paper cuttings to welcome Lunar New Year in China

With the Chinese Lunar New Year a week away, people in east China's Shandong Province are busy making paper-cutting artworks to greet the festival.

Papercutting or "Jianzhi" in Chinese has more than 1500 years of history in China. Often in red color and characterized by Chinese Zodiac animals, the artwork is one of the most popular decorations in the country, especially during Spring Festival.
