February 12 signifies the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, visited southwest China's Guizhou Province ahead of the holiday and extended New Year's greetings to Chinese people of all ethnic groups. During his trip, Xi visited Bijie City and the provincial capital Guiyang, as well as a village, a residential community and a supermarket.
