The Chinese mainland recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases on Friday – four local transmissions and eight from overseas, the National Health Commission said on Saturday.

No new deaths related to COVID-19 were registered and 81 patients were discharged from hospitals.

A total of 10 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 733 asymptomatic patients remained under medical observation.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland has reached 89,681, and the death toll stands at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 10,589 (9,750 recoveries, 186 deaths)

Macao: 48 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 923 (841recoveries, 9 deaths)
