European Union (EU) Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell is about to wrap up a rare visit to Russia. This trip is the first such visit to Moscow by an EU representative since 2017. In the meantime, bilateral ties have hit a new low after Russia expelled diplomats from Poland, Germany and Sweden for attending unsanctioned protests in support of Navalny last month. The embassies said their diplomats were attending the rallies as observers. CGTN talked to Cui Hongjian, director of the Institute of European Studies at the Chinese Academy of International Studies. Cui said there is pressure to establish real engagement between the two sides.
