Skywhalepapa is as tall as a seven-story building and used 3.6 kilometers of fabric in the construction of the envelope. The 1.5-meter wide fabric was cut into 2,343 panels to create the balloon. /VCG

This year's event has attracted around 2,000 spectators as well as thousands more trying to get a good view of the sculptures nearby, around Lake Burley Griffin. /VCG
