A frozen river in the valleys of Kuruktag Mountain appears as a turquoise ribbon weaving through the rocks in aerial photographs taken on February 6, 2021. Kuruktag Mountain sits in Bohu County, Bayingol Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The mountain is to the north of the famous Lop Nur, a dried-up area of a former salt lake. Lop Nur people are one of the oldest habitant groups in the Taklamakan Desert.
