Myanmar military leader General Min Aung Hlaing said in a speech on Monday that the election commission used the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse and did not allow for fair campaigning. 

He called on the public to prioritize facts and not feelings, and said an election would be held and power passed on, adding that foreign policy would remain unchanged with countries encouraged to invest in Myanmar.
