The U.S. Justice Department will ask attorneys who were appointed by former President Donald Trump to resign from their posts as the Biden administration shifts to its own nominees, according to CNN on Monday.
The turnover is expected to spare two top prosecutors in Delaware and Connecticut overseeing two sensitive Trump-era investigations, the senior officer said.
The routine resignation request during the transition will affect 56 Senate-confirmed U.S. attorneys appointed by the former U.S. president.
