China will continue to work with the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) to further promote green development, said Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday.

"China will take the opportunity as 2021 marks the Year of the China-CEEC Cooperation for Green Development and Environmental Protection to deepen cooperation in areas like green economy and clean energy with the CEEC," Xi made the remarks at the China-CEEC Summit in Beijing via video link.

China and the CEEC should work together to implement the Paris Agreement on climate change and make joint contributions to the incoming 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 26), as well as the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, Xi added.
