While many companies reported losses in 2020, China's bubble tea sector saw business growing despite the pandemic. 

Just last year, China's homegrown bubble tea chain Heytea expanded to 18 cities, opening over 200 new stores. 

Chinese tea beverage chain Nayuki also expanded, counting now with almost 500 new stores across the country. 

According to an industry report, China saw a rise in tea beverage stores last year in lower-tier cities, with a growth rate of over 30 percent.
