Chinese mainland reports two new COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland recorded two new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, both from overseas, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Thursday.

No new locally-transmitted cases reported on Wednesday, and 92 patients were discharged from hospitals. A total of 16 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 521 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland has reached 89,736, and the death toll stands at 4,636. No new deaths related to COVID-19 were registered on Wednesday.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 10,710 (10,022 recoveries, 189 deaths)

Macao: 48 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 935 (853 recoveries, 9 deaths)
