Chinese mainland reports 12 new COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, all from overseas, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Friday. 

No new locally-transmitted cases were reported on Thursday and 71 patients were discharged from hospitals. Eight new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 487 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland has reached 89,748, and the death toll stands at 4,636. No new deaths related to COVID-19 were registered on Thursday.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 10,731 (10,077 recoveries, 191 deaths)

Macao: 48 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 936 (859 recoveries, 9 deaths)
