Chinese mainland reports 8 new COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland recorded eight new COVID-19 cases on Friday, all from overseas, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Saturday. 

No new locally-transmitted cases were reported on Friday and 65 patients were discharged from hospitals. Fourteen new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 470 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland has reached 89,756, and the death toll stands at 4,636. No new deaths related to COVID-19 were registered on Friday.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 10,755 (10,136 recoveries, 192 deaths)

Macao: 48 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 937 (859 recoveries, 9 deaths)
