The U.S. Senate has acquitted former President Donald Trump on charges of inciting an insurrection at the Capitol building. The Senate vote of 57-43 fell short of the two-thirds majority needed to convict. CGTN spoke to Josef Gregory Mahoney, a professor of politics at East China Normal University, who said it's difficult to convict a former president, as it requires a super majority in Senate.
